The quality of a functional oral pouch is determined long before the filling line — it starts with the raw materials. At Sonvi Bio, every ingredient passes through a rigorous qualification and testing process before it is released for production. This article explains our supplier qualification, COA verification and batch-by-batch testing protocol.

Supplier qualification

We maintain an approved supplier list built on documented audits. Each supplier must provide business licenses, quality management certifications (ISO 9001, ISO 22000 or equivalent), product specifications and a history of consistent performance. New suppliers undergo a trial-batch evaluation before being added to the approved list.

COA verification

Every shipment arrives with a supplier-issued Certificate of Analysis. Our QC team verifies the COA against our internal specifications — checking identity, potency, moisture, microbiology limits and heavy-metal bounds. Any discrepancy triggers a hold and investigation before the material can be released.

Batch-by-batch testing

Beyond COA verification, we perform our own independent tests on every incoming batch:

- Identity testing (TLC or HPLC fingerprint) to confirm the raw material matches specification
- Potency assay for active ingredients (caffeine, L-theanine, botanical markers)
- Microbiology panel (total plate count, yeast and mold, E. coli, Salmonella)
- Heavy metals (lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury) against destination-market limits
- Allergen screening when applicable

Quarantine and release

Materials that pass all tests receive a green release label and are moved from the quarantine area into the compounding staging zone. Materials that fail are tagged red, segregated and returned to the supplier or disposed of per SOP. No material enters production without a green release tag.

FAQ

What tests do you perform on incoming raw materials? Identity (TLC/HPLC), potency, microbiology (TPC, yeast/mold, E. coli, Salmonella), heavy metals (Pb, As, Cd, Hg) and allergen screening when applicable.

Do you verify supplier COAs? Yes. Every supplier COA is checked against our internal specifications. Any discrepancy triggers a hold and investigation.

What happens if a batch fails testing? Failed batches are tagged red, segregated in the quarantine area and returned or disposed of per SOP. They never enter production.
